The Arsenals rebuilt their firearms whenever it was needed. Note about refinishing: Military shotguns are collectable, but a collector would prefer one with some of its original finish over one that has been refinished. However, it is only 161 numbers away from an Ithaca 37 which was inventoried at the Panama Ordinance Department in 1946. I don't know when your particular gun was made. The gun was made by SKB in Japan and imported by Ithaca, starting in 1966. The one in my collection, a 12-gauge, has s/n S 5550909. The Springfield Research Center has dug through the National Archives for any recorded serial numbers, but yours is not on the list.Īccording to SKB's web site, the model 500 was marketed by Ithaca from 1969 to 1978. The original owner would have been the United States Government, but there are no records to show who actually carried it. I acquired a Ithaca/SKB Model 600 20 gauge O/U. Yes but there are different model numbers for SKB semi-auto 12.
